Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?

For some guys laser hair removal can be quite painful. It’s especially the first sessions where people are quite sensitive. This is because the hair is still quite thick. Even the best traditional laser machines with perfect settings can’t change this. That’s why we’ve invested in a technology called Super Hair Removal.

A less painful way of doing laser hair removal.

Have you hear of Super Hair Removal (SHR™ for short)? It’s a newer and more gentle hair removal method used in clinics around the world. Also one of the only clinically proven methods of laser hair removal that is safe and virtually painless for all skin types, including dark and tanned skin.

How does it work?

Our laser machine, Soprano Titanium, incorporates the SHR method for safe and comfortable hair removal. SHR works by gradually heating the dermis to a temperature that effectively damages the hair follicles and prevents hair regrowth. Hereby we avoid exposing hair follicles to a single high energy pulse, which can cause trauma to the skin and injury to the surrounding tissue.

A series of high-speed micro-pulses heat the skin, penetrating deep into the dermis. The sweeping motion of the applicator ensures that the hair follicles will be treated evenly.

The new Titanium ICE technology cools the skin to prevent discomfort. Sun exposure is also less traumatic to the skin following SHR™ treatment.

So what does it feel like? Is it still painful?

Most of our patients describe a gentle warming sensation in the area being treated. A few feel mild pins and needles. Some areas of the body are of course more sensitive than others of course, for example neck or intimate areas.
