Grooming. The Modern Man’s Guide.

In the beginning, there was dirt. And then came man. Man was dirty because he had no way to wash himself. So what did he do? He rubbed his body with whatever was around: leaves, sticks, rocks, and even sand. Then one day a caveman got the idea to rub his face with mud, which seemed like a good idea at the time – and BOOM! Grooming and the first clay mask was born.

The history of men’s grooming is long and storied, but we know one thing for sure: it’s come a long way since the days of the caveman. Over time, men began to use soap instead of oil. They learned how to shave their faces with razors instead of sharpened rocks, and they began to care for their fingernails with nail clippers instead of knives. The first tools used for grooming were tweezers and razors. Tools that have been used for thousands of years.

As human beings have grown more sophisticated over time, so have the tools they use to groom themselves. These days, we have access to everything from 5 blade razors to electric shavers. But these can often lead to more irritation. There’s still nothing that beats a traditional straight razor shave. Sounds dangerous? Here’s our 6-step shaving guide.

How to Shave with a Straight Razor?

Shaving with a straight razor can be a daunting task, especially for those of us who have never done it before. But with these simple tips, you’ll get the hang in no time!

  1. Wash your face with warm water and a gentle cleanser. This softens the hairs and opens up pores.

  1. Apply an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells and prep your skin for shaving. Then use a moisturizer to lock in moisture and keep your skin healthy.

Pro tip: do step 1 & 2 in the shower and make life easier

  1. Use a new razor every time you shave. Blades dull quickly if you use them multiple times, which can cause irritation or ingrown hairs.

  1. Apply the right shaving cream to your skin.

Optional: Use a shaving bowl and brush to get it extra foamy

  1. Hold the razor at a 30º angle and shave with the grain of your hair growth. This will help prevent ingrown hairs.

  1. Rinse with cold water and apply an aftershave balm/tonic/lotion so that any bacteria are killed off.

Grooming Meets Aesthetics

In recent years, the practice of men’s grooming has undergone a major transformation. It’s not just about looking good anymore. Men are now taking an active role in their own health and wellness by making sure they’re getting regular check-ups with their barber.

We’re here to help. At Mansculpt we’ve created a range of treatments with men in mind. We believe in making yourself feel good every day, whether it’s barbering or aesthetics. Take a look at some of our services:

Facial HITT

The facial high intensity treatment (HITT) is a skin rejuvenation procedure that uses intense hand movement and EMS to tighten the skin and reduce wrinkles and fine lines.

This targets the deeper layers of skin to stimulate collagen production, tones facial muscles, improves lymphatic drainage and blood circulation.

It is safe, effective, and has no downtime or recovery time.

Facial Punch

Looking to get rid of acne scarring, pigmentation, and fine lines? This microneedling treatment treatment is what you need!

We gently puncture the skin to create a wound healing response whilst adding nutrients back into the skin. The body comes in to repairs the micro damage that has occurred, leaving you with better skin than before.

A course of treatments will be recommended for best results. Lets punch!

Dermaquest Skin Specific Advanced Facial

Power Frequency

The Power Frequency Acne Session uses micro-current technology to treat acne.

The treatment involves applying a small electrical current to kill off any bacteria that can cause acne.

We start by steaming and exfoliating the skin with a salicylic acid peel, followed by high frequency spot treatment and a calming gel mask.

The result is reduced inflammation, diminished redness and improved acne scarring. We finish with a 15 minute shoulder massage to completely take the stress away.

Traditional Barbering meet Modern Grooming

Our expert barbers are trained in the art of precision grooming. Whether you need a cut throat shave, a fresh fade or a hot towel and beard trimming session. We have you covered.

Since we always go the extra mile, we include 30 minutes of Facial HITT massage with our shaving package.

Face Pump Session

With the Face Pump Session, we can help you clean up that skincare slip-up. But we’re not just talking about washing your face. We are talking about deep cleansing with water dermabrasion. This will leave your skin looking clean and healthy.

Added hyaluronan and essential multi-vitamins will give you a glow that lasts all day.

Hot and cold therapy treatments will tighten those facial muscles. You’ll look like you just woke up from a good night’s sleep instead of having rushed to get ready.
